So…I got a new amp and I’m really excited about it. A little while ago I posted about my obsession with the 70s bass tone and John Paul Jones and Acoustic Amps. In another post, I stated how much I wanted an Acoustic Amp. And now…I have one and it’s so much more than I could ever want.
What I got was an Acoustic 150b. This is an amp that was made in 1971. Yeah…you read right. This amp comes equipped with 2 inputs, Treble and Bass EQ, 600 watts, and 8 ohms of delicious bass tone. The things I found funny were that it’s huge (near 2 feet long), there isn’t even 4-band EQ, and on the back it still says “Acoustic Control Corporation.” Acoustic has since changed its name to “Acoustic Amplification.” I found these things funny, because they are so 70s and I love it. I don’t know how I CAN’T get a 70s tone from this amp.
I’m ecstatic about this new amp. It sounds amazing and I have definite plans to make a demo video soon. First, I have to get an Acoustic cab! MORE GEAR! :-)
